About Us

Guided by Values. Strengthened by Experience.

Founded in 1984 by John Katz, an ardent supporter of our Town's youth, Ridgefield Youth and Family Services is a private, not-for-profit agency supported by the State of Connecticut, the Town of Ridgefield, local organizations and private donors. We aim to improve the lives of Ridgefield families by providing professional therapeutic counseling and related services for youth, families and seniors. In addition to counseling, we offer coaching and support groups for parents, coordinate the Ridgefield Youth Diversion Team, and support the Ridgefield Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (RCCASA).

Our
Commitments

  • Providing top-quality clinical support and programs

  • Serving our clients without regard for their ability to pay

  • Creating a warm and professional environment for both our clinicians and our clients

  • Collaborating and coordinating, where appropriate, with schools, physicians, and others supporting our clients

  • Minimizing bureaucracy and focusing our resources where they matter most:  on the wellbeing and growth of the families we serve.

Our
Strengths

We offer an uncommon mix of clinical excellence, accessibility and affordability.

  • Our seasoned clinical staff includes two therapists each with over 18 years of experience.

  • As family therapists, our training enables us to work with the entire family and, where appropriate, address the relational dynamics that are often root causes of a young person's mood or behavioral problems.

  • Our generous volunteers and sponsors enable us to operate with very low overhead so that we're able to accept clients based on need, without regard for their ability to pay.
